I have got to go to bed ok i finished the history code That was my job! jk Heh, good. Good night all -:- SignOff lar1: #TUNES (RavenOS -- Rock the rim!) * eihrul/#tunes must find this phantom thread migration paper. liar: hrmmmish, i almost think i need to completely rewrite EMK again :) -:- SignOff _ruiner_: #TUNES (Leaving) eihrul: hehe we got a problem with the history it wont keep track thru a go since bochs doesnt display instructions right now i'm just looking for a damned paper :) is the history lost? er wait... i don't see that as a problem if people want a history, they can use step as it's really only useful for debugging small routines and the like interactively that's the reason i suggested it... k 12:10am the only bad thing about doors is that if i rewrote the kernel to support them doors? thread migration :) ah is that i'd have to separate the stack and kernel record but it is cool in that it's completely non-blocking hmm i should do that in brix isn't brix messaging already sort of similar? ya but i create a thread i could just create a second thread entry and copy over the client thread into it -:- SignOff BlackPhoenix: #TUNES (Leaving) and point the entry in the run queue to the new thread i fail to see how that's any different that would be tons faster than allocating stack space and waiting for the server thread to get scheduled as you need to create that second thread :) as you're supposed to allocate a second stack :) plus i dont have to do any argument copying why do i need a second stack? security the server could do all sorts of nasty things to the client's stack hmm so in conclusion, your messaging model is basically thread migration :) bummer yah 12:20am are u able to access the xforms page crap im going to bed cya -:- SignOff liar: #TUNES (BRiX [http://www.qzx.com/brix] :: sleep) 12:30am -:- BlackPhoenix [black-phoe@adm.univd.kharkov.ua] has joined #tunes -:- SignOff BlackPhoenix: #TUNES (Ping timeout for BlackPhoenix[adm.univd.kharkov.ua]) -:- BlackPhoenix [black-phoe@adm.univd.kharkov.ua] has joined #tunes -:- SignOff eihrul: #TUNES (Leaving) -:- SignOff BlackPhoenix: #TUNES (Leaving) -:- lomear1 [user2246@212.162.130.221] has joined #Tunes -:- lomear1 [user2246@212.162.130.221] has left #Tunes [] -:- hcf [nef@me-portland-us125.javanet.com] has joined #tunes -:- AlonzoTG [Alonzo@216-164-135-114.s622.tnt3.lnhva.md.dialup.rcn.com] has joined #tunes -:- SignOff AlonzoTG: #TUNES (Have Nice Day :)) -:- SignOff Zhivago: #TUNES (Ping timeout for Zhivago[th.merddin.com.au]) -:- Zhivago [brian@th.merddin.com.au] has joined #tunes -:- SignOff Fare: #TUNES (Ping timeout for Fare[quatramaran.ens.fr]) -:- Fare [fare@quatramaran.ens.fr] has joined #Tunes -:- SignOff hcf: #TUNES (Leaving) -:- hcf [nef@me-portland-us843.javanet.com] has joined #tunes -:- SignOff hcf: #TUNES (Leaving) -:- hcf [nef@me-portland-us843.javanet.com] has joined #tunes -:- dm [user7808@hiper84.crtelco.com] has joined #Tunes -:- dm [user7808@hiper84.crtelco.com] has left #Tunes [] -:- SignOff hcf: #TUNES (Ping timeout for hcf[me-portland-us843.javanet.com]) -:- hcf [nef@me-portland-us843.javanet.com] has joined #tunes -:- AlonzoTG [Alonzo@216-164-132-195.s449.tnt2.lnhva.md.dialup.rcn.com] has joined #tunes !ChanServ:*! ^lilo used GETPASS on channel #spi -:- SignOff AlonzoTG: #TUNES (Have Nice Day :)) -:- AlonzoTG [Alonzo@216-164-138-230.s230.tnt5.lnhva.md.dialup.rcn.com] has joined #tunes !ChanServ:*! ^lilo used GETPASS on channel #spi -:- SignOff AlonzoTG: #TUNES (Have Nice Day :)) -:- SignOff hcf: #TUNES (Leaving) -:- liar [brand@p0wer.qzx.com] has joined #tunes anyone know a kernel.org mirror? 02:10pm -:- AlonzoTG [Alonzo@209-122-203-70.s324.tnt6.lnhva.md.dialup.rcn.com] has joined #tunes liar can't find the list? i found it 02:30pm i use ftp.linux.locus.halcyon.com, it's 6 hops from bespin do u know where a page is that tells what each patch fixes? I can't get linux to connect to my ISP =( yes i'll get that oh the only page on kernel.org that works right now says ftp.country.kernel.org where country is a 2 character code http://edge.kernelnotes.org thanks how do i apply patches? cd linux; gzip -dc /some/where/patch.gz|patch -p1 dc? gzip -d = gunzip -c = decompress to stdout, dont change the file does bz2 have that? by cd'ing then -p1 your linux dir can be named whatever you want yes, bzip2 works the same way 02:40pm The next patch would create the file `drivers/block/DAC960.c', which already exists! Assume -R? [n] what is -R? what version of the source are you patching against and what is the patch file name? 2.27 2.2.7 and im on the 2.2.11 patch you have to apply the patches in order i am if you have 2.2.7 you must start with patch-2.2.8 i did patch -R goes from the new version assuming you applied the patch, and basically applies the patch backwards to get the old version if you get that, there's a problem in the patch file, or you applied the same patch twice i didnt or you can just say no and it will probably work :P what version of patch do you have Apply anyway? [n] 2.5 i dont know ,take a guess, crap now im getting errors up the butt uncomrpses the patch-2.2.11 and tell me how big it is 6244884 same as mine I didnt have a problem om i only got errors on about 5-10 files in the blocks dir I need a calling convention. start over and answer te "apply patch anyway" with the other answer what other answer the one you didnt select the time when it had errors! 02:50pm -:- eihrul [lee@usr5-ppp181.lvdi.net] has joined #tunes i sure hope smp is better in 2.2.12 smp is cheesy whatever cpu's are cheesy indeed a hack upon a hack 03:00pm Tril: what is yer brilliant idea to replace em? why replace them, who needs computers? damnit this is fucked up bad my mouse cursor is moving about 1 pixel per 10 seconds and my kernel stopped compiling how much swap is free it prevents you from writing buggy code, it's a good thing... linux gets hosed if it runs out of swap or if you take a floppy disk out while it's mounted how often does one do that? aside from the first time? oh, i meant if a floppy disk has an error on it too all of it top says im 95% idle but uptime says 0.98 uptime is the average for the last 1 minute top is probably since the last top refresh hrmm, is core likely to come in here today? or does he only do so rarely? -:- brand [brand@borg.qzx.com] has joined #tunes heh my load is off the scale i cant even type on p0wer anymore eihrul he's online ICQ..go bug him there (or ask him to join irc) 1153070 core 03:10pm he won't mind? ugh its so loaded i cant kill anything or reboot it why would someone mind being contacted on icq, that's waht it's for. if someone doesnt want to be contacted they will not use it, or set their status N/A. Or more likely, just ignore the msg.. i need a socket that if accessed it reboots :) tril: licq does not have many of those pleasures huh? licq has all the features afaik it has chatting not ignoring messages I didnt mean in the software. I meant he would just not answer -:- SignOff liar: #TUNES (Ping timeout for liar[p0wer.qzx.com]) that's cheap... that's the whole point of a software ignore feature -:- SignOff AlonzoTG: #TUNES (Have Nice Day :)) suck, i had to take p0wer from 550mhz to 460 :( what do you need 550 for, anyway? atleast i still get my 2 pengiuns at boot to make E and gnome run fast * eihrul/#tunes cackles. is that not an oxymoron of sorts? 03:20pm i need to move oneofmy hdds to my server so it dont take forever to check my drives after a crash wonderful, gnome/E wont start they're just running so fast you can't see them -:- liar [brand@p0wer.qzx.com] has joined #tunes -:- SignOff brand: #TUNES (BRiX [http://www.qzx.com/brix] :: ) i need to get rid of gnome right now know of any good lite weight button bars? would the afterstep wharf thing run in E? probably not far as i know, it's integrated into the window manager itself there was actually one, of which i can't seem to remember the name of... it was something to the effect of "xwce" Mem: 257592K av, 250772K used, 6820K free, 41864K shrd, 184068K buff Swap: 104384K av, 548K used, 103836K free 25792K cached sheesh im using swap and i just barely booted and im running e/gnome, panel and bx you'd figure you were running walnut creek or something heh 03:30pm hmm isnt depmod -a suppose to make my module.dep file thing? yep it didnt 03:50pm -:- SignOff liar: #TUNES (Read error to liar[p0wer.qzx.com]: Connection reset by peer) -:- liar [brand@p0wer.qzx.com] has joined #tunes yes! 2.2.12 fixed the udma problem 04:10pm eihrul: u here? yes 04:30pm bochs doesnt display all the bytes for some instructions like lss and the other segments can u think of anything else that bochs says unfinsihed for? eh? u know how bochs displays the instruction bytes before the instruction string? and? i think and is a savings of two chracters as well and how we used the size of those bytes to determine the next address used by the next button well if u press next on lss it wont see the breakpoint cuz the instruction is longer than 2 bytes like bochs says im adding code to detect those instruction and use step instead of next just wondering if u can think of any other instruction that might be like that why doesn't bochs display the full instruction? its unfinished (0) 0000:7c95: 0fb2: lss *** Mp() unfinished *** (0) 0000:7c9a: 30f6: xor DH, DH see how the address changed by more than 2 bytes? lss sp,[stack_addr] xor dh,dh ; set head to 0 yes, have fun :) i'm outta here for a little cya 04:40pm -:- SignOff eihrul: #TUNES (Leaving) -:- AlonzoTG [Alonzo@209-122-212-75.s583.tnt6.lnhva.md.dialup.rcn.com] has joined #tunes oh, that front-end's dl was broken last I looked huh? liar: bfe, the download was 12k last I looked liar: a broken tar -rw-rw-r-- 1 brand brand 13216 Sep 21 18:16 ../bfe-test-dl.tgz worked fine did u want to dl it? liar: ahh, you've fixed it this is a newer version that's not on the page liar: cool, looks very nifty compared to the bochs debugger interface :) heh thanks will be more useful once I get 1st class functions, and can start writing isrs u think i should announce it to the bochs developer list now or wait until all the small glitches are fixed? well, I've never used it so I can't really judge release early/often seems a good general strategy though k 05:20pm -:- SignOff AlonzoTG: #TUNES (Have Nice Day :)) Zhivago: u here? only in a small sense u know anything about realloc? sure tmp = (struct mem_struct *) realloc (memlist, sizeof(struct mem_struct *) * (++nr_strucs)); sifeof() is always 4, nr_strucs goes from 0 to 5 and it seg faults on 5 so its segfaulting when realloc(memlist, 24) any idea why? -:- AlonzoTG [Alonzo@216-164-130-150.s531.tnt2.lnhva.md.dialup.rcn.com] has joined #tunes 07:00pm well, you pribably mean sizeof(struct mem_struct) or to return a struct mem_struct** its eihrul's code i cant figure out how it works well, it doesn't look clean it looks like he's trying to extend a vector of struct mem_struct's in which case you'd want a tmp = (struct mem_struct *)realloc(memlist, sizeof(struct mem_struct)*(++nr_strucs)); that didnt work either oh wait work is such a bad word when there's so little information it did work good 07:10pm -:- SignOff AlonzoTG: #TUNES (Have Nice Day :)) -:- Happy [user1322@edtnpx07-port-38.agt.net] has joined #tunes hello happy -:- SignOff Happy: #TUNES (Leaving) 07:30pm hmm, do you know if the ide code in reto works? The old ones step-lock and next-lock has been in most of them Hmm, well then I didn't know what those were they are even in the config now 10:10pm ok :) ok the config bug is fixed good ok just need to fix the remove button weird it will remove any breakpoint as long as it aint the first one in the list er as long as it aint the top of the list oh crap 10:20pm ? i know why it dont work ok ok fixed ready t publish well maybe ill fix the memory output real quick Ok, send over the final copy and I'll post to freshmeat did u find out anything on the resize problem?
